City of Torc'qua Team Build
Edit: Can a mod move this to the Elonian Explorer's League =/
This is a build a PUG I was in used to complete the first part of the Mallyx quest, the City of Torc'qua. Credit for the build goes to Inari Youske. Note that this was the first time the build was run, so it could definitely use some modifications... Let me emphasize, THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE AN EFFCIENT AND OPTIMAL END-ALL BUILD. But it is proven to work, albeit slowly.
Note: To get credit for this part of the quest, you MUST destroy EVERY SINGLE Margonite in the area. Simply killing Lord Jadoth does not update the quest. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but that's the way it worked.
Screenshot: I took this screen just because it was funny (uhhh, RUN FASTER IMO.) but it shows the group setup and that we got pretty far in.
I'll only list skills I know for sure:
Active prot had Prot Spirit, Gift of Health, Glyph of Renewal, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Aegis. I know his only direct heal was GoH. Most of his energy was spent on keeping Prot Spirit spread around I believe. This char went into his -Regen weapon set almost every battle, so Emanagement would probly be nice.
Bonder had Life Barrier, Essence Bond, Balthazar's Spirit, Life Attunement, and Protective Bond.
Eles were standard Echo Nukers as far as I could tell. Meteor Shower, Immolate, Glowing Gaze, maybe Rodgorts, LB Gaze. I don't know if they did, but they both should have Mantra of Lightning.
Earth ele was Sandstorm, Dragon's Stomp, Ward Melee, Ward Elements (i think), Mantra, LB Gaze.
Necro was the most important (and hardest to play) part of the build. Included Spoil Victor, Backfire, Blood Ritual, Cry of Frustration, Unnatural Signet, LB Gaze.
My skillbar given to me by the group leader, Inari. It seemed to work pretty well, but I wouldve killed for a Watch Yourself at some points. You can't depend on having energy when tanking due to Fear Me, so all you can plan on having are adrenal and signet skills. Skills: Shield Stance, Signet of Stamina, Charge! (minimal use, can be switched out), Dolyak Signet, Ele Resistance (MantraLightning?), Res, Endure Pain, Healing Signet.
Healer's bar included Healer's Boon, Healing Touch, Orison of Healing, Heal Other and Energy Tap. I wouldn't recommend this bar to ANYBODY without more serious self emanagement. Energy tap doesn't cut it and the BR nec already has his hands full. A more solid healing bar wouldve saved me alot of candy canes
Couple things:
-To get credit for this part of the quest, you MUST destroy EVERY SINGLE Margonite in the area. Simply killing Lord Jadoth does not update the quest. I don't know if this is a bug or not, but that's the way it worked.
-Taking down QZ is essential for this build, but that means the necro has to overextend to get it. Be careful when doing this.
-The monsters in the screenshot and the skills in the damage indicator are from an area you DO NOT have to mess with for this quest. We were done at that point and were simply messing around and seeing what else was out there. All you have to deal with are Margonites.
-There is a lvl 28 monk boss with Blessed Light, Scourge Healing, Scourge Ench, Reversal of Damage, and Zealots Fire that can be hard to take down. I'd recommend the spare slot on the necro be Diversion. Other bosses included a Paragon boss (who dropped a 15^50 Zealous +30hp green spear for somebody in my party) and Lord Jadoth himself. Jadoth is a lvl 30 paragon.

Just over 4 hours, but probably a good hour of that was standing around waiting for mobs to de-attach or to arrive at their patrol spot. We went pretty slow.

Yes. It seems like an odd choice to me too; I'd personally rather use GoLE on aegis rather than have it instarecharge.

The duration and damage are key.

In hindsight, the elite I would take would be Auspicious Parry, and it would be used to power Watch Yourself and Bonetti's. Some people want to run Defy Pain, but Signet of Stamina + Endure is usually enough. And yes, holding aggro was definitely a problem. AI logic has never been more random. Your only hope is that ALL casters (including well meaning monks) stay completely back and behind a drawn line while you pull. This doesn't even always work; there were times when my aggro bubble was 100% clear yet they ran straight past me into the backline. I used to terrain to bodyblock which worked well.

I really don't know what I'd put here. I want to say that with enough damage mitigation, a standard WoH bar (WoH/Kiss/Touch/Orison, and probly Infuse) would be the best... However quite a few monks are saying that damage is still coming in huge packets too fast for a WoH bar to work. In that case all I can recommend is a ZB Prot with Infuse and some magical energy management. Don't know what, cause Anet has nerfed the mesmer insp line to hell and left it there.

heya I had to solo monk for my team cause our healer logged out halfway. basically we had a bip, I had wildly expensive prot and blessed aura, (for spammage of prot spirit mainly, and SoA and spirit bond), psychic distraction mesmer, a tank, a searing flames ele, a paragon with "they're on fire!", and an ss. Plus a very very crappy healer that we didn't even notice when she logged out -.-
